UX Design, App Design

In today's fast-paced world, documenting thoughts and ideas quickly is critical. The existing iPhone Notes app offers a solid platform for taking notes, but it lacks a comprehensive voice recording feature. This proposal reveals a new feature that allows users to easily record voice notes while on the go, allowing them to capture ideas without distraction.

  • Project Objectives

Enhance User Experience: Allowing users to record voice notes will make note-taking easier.

Increase Accessibility: Provide a hands-free option for recording, ensuring safety and convenience while walking or multitasking.

Improve Productivity: Let users to quickly express and preserve their ideas in more detail using voice.

Hold and Swipe: Users can press and hold the microphone button to start recording. Swiping will lock the recording, allowing for hands-free operation.

Completion: Users can press a "Done" button to finish recording, simplifying the process.

Audio Cropping: After recording, users can crop the audio to retain only relevant sections, edit the speed, remove the silence, and make the recording cleaner with AI.
  • Target Audience

Judy (F30)
She is a mother of 2 children, she is a housewife and a freelance designer. She is in charge of the entire household: cooking, picking up the kids, cleaning, budgeting and so on. And she has to find time to meet with clients and do design work. She doesn't always have time to write her ideas down, but the needs to keep track of her thoughts, she is all over the place. She can forget things in seconds; loses attention frequently and fast, because of the thousands of thoughts that run through her mind at all times.
Lana (F20)
She is a junior student at Massart and works part-time as an interior designer. She has a highly packed schedule, so she never stays in one spot for long; she is constantly on the move. She loves to talk a lot! She prefers talking over writing. Lana enjoys various crafty activities, including cooking. She is extremely creative, and whenever she gets a project to work on, she has far too many ideas. And she can easily flip between thoughts, but she forgets the previous one often.
  • Process

I began by looking through the Apple apps to find some reference interfaces to get a sense of the company's general design before creating my own feature inside of theirs. To better fit my enhancement, I conducted some research on Apple Inc.'s typefaces and icons. To assist me with my design, I used screenshots of the Notes application.

I then started exploring which buttons should be used for which purposes and how to get my prototype to function like an actual Apple Notes app. To see the early version, I made a few test screens in Figma. I've been analyzing the Notes app, its transitions between the screens and what happens if you press something; That research will help me to apply those affects to my enhancement to make it blend in within the exciting app.

I began thinking about the presentation when I had the app portion figured out. For the modification I've made for the Notes, I needed to create a video. The first thing I did was write down my ideas on how I wanted it to be presented. To have a better understanding of my objectives, I built the user journey.

Then I started to create the storyboards to depict the scenarios in the videos. My video was divided into three primary sections: the problem, the solution, and the happy conclusion. That helped me figure out what I should include in my video. I started drafting the presentation's dialogue and visuals. In addition, I was searching for the the music and Apple commercial videos as an example.

I wrote a script for the final video to present the feature. To help myself organize the process and pace. From that story I came up with the final visuals and timing. Then I picked the AI voice that works the best with Apple theme, in my opinion, to voice over my video.
